It's Wednesday morning after our big 4th of July Event at church, and I'm pooped. Beginning at 6:00 last night we had thousands of people come to our church property for free food, games, and fireworks. We gave out 2,000 hotdogs, 3,000 glow bracelets, and had a great fireworks display that rivals the one put on downtown!
Nataly and I arrived at the church yesterday at 9:30 a.m. to do whatever was needed for set-up, and we left last night at 11:15 p.m. But we had a blast! Tony and Cody came and helped the sound company set up their equipment, came home for the afternoon, and then returned for the festivities.
My job for the evening was to drive a golf cart around with the "boss" of the event and take her wherever she needed to go. We also transported people who needed a ride to/from cars, etc. It was fun. We had 2 political campaigners that tried to come and campaign, and we politely told them they needed to stop campaigning on our property. We had 5 policemen directing traffic on Garnett, and many, many Liberty people helping with food, games, traffic, driving shuttles, etc. It's a great event that we've done now for 6 years, and our community loves it! But it's a lot of work, so our office is closed today to allow people to rest since we had to work on the holiday.
I am, however going to work at Donna's later this afternoon. I'm having fun there, too. Monday I helped a lady spend almost $1,500.00 on clothes! Yikes! I'm in a different world. I don't spend that much on clothes in 3 years. It's fun to help other people spend their money!
Beth was in a car wreck last week. A young girl just wasn't watching and rear-ended Beth as she was sitting at a light that had just turned from red to green. Luckily the car in front of her was already far enough ahead that Beth didn't hit him as well, but her car is pretty bad. The back window blew completely out with glass flying up on the dashboard. Bryce was in the back seat, and there was another friend in the front passenger seat. Bryce had a cut on his forehead that apparently bled quite a bit, but he wouldn't let the paramedics take him to the hospital, and after it was cleaned up didn't look as bad as it seemed at first. We don't know whether the car will be totaled or not because the insurance companies were closed for the holiday weekend, but we should hear something today. The other insurance company is definitely covering it, which they told us over the phone on Friday when Beth called to give her recorded statement. We're grateful no one was badly injured!
I don't have to work on Saturday, so we'll have a day to just hang out together or go to Big Splash or something, which we haven't gotten to do as a family this summer. The other day Nataly commented to Tony that we don't EVER have a day that we're all here and don't have to go anywhere, so at least Saturday will remedy that, and we'll get to decide if we DO want to go somewhere or just stay home. I think she's already requested that we eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel that morning, and then we'll see what happens after that!
Hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend! Looking forward to Frontier City!

Mel, This is what the blogs are all about to me. What fun to hear of the WHOLE event and so many personal things we wouldn't get to hear until we see each other.
See you guys at Frontier city on the 15th.
Dad
I agree with Dad, this is great.
Thanks for all of the updates! See you at Frontier City (if we don't make a cameo at Big Splash just to surprise you!) :)
